Brown Wood Owl

Khao SokThe Brown Wood-owl is a medium-sized, nocturnal bird of prey, with an average size of around 47 to 53 centimeters, and has buff brown facial discs, with a dark border and dark eyes. Its upper parts are dark brown, with faint white spotting on the shoulders, whilst the under parts are buff with dark brown bars. The breast is often dark brown

The species originates from the southern parts of Asia (Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia).

They are strictly a forest species, frequenting tropical forest along the sea-coast.
