Pandanus
This is an outstanding example of Pandanus, a member of the family Pandanaceae which ranges from the coast to deep interior tropical rain forest.
The fruit of this plant large, (shaped somewhat like a pineapple) and comprised of numerous phalanges which are reddish-yellow when ripe.
It is an important food source for civets, squirrel, porcupine , deer and wild pig.
The strong leaf blades are stripped of their saw-toothed edges and woven into durable floor mats use in households throughout Thailand and Southeast Asia.
